1. Who we are
Bridgewell Studio is the trade name under which EXV Consulting LLC builds software for K-12 schools and Young Adult Programs, with particular depth in special needs classrooms. In this policy, “we,” “us,” and “Bridgewell Studio” refer to EXV Consulting LLC.
You can reach us at hello@bridgewellstudio.com with any question about this policy.
2. What this policy covers
This policy covers two things: the information handled through this website, bridgewellstudio.com, and the commitments we make about student data in the products we build for schools.
When a school or district engages us, that relationship is governed by a written agreement, including a Data Privacy Agreement where the school requires one. Where that agreement differs from this policy, the agreement controls.
3. Information we collect on this website
Information you give us
This website has one form — the contact form. When you submit it, we receive your name, email address, school or organization, the topic you selected, and your message. Nothing else. There is no account to create and no login.
Information collected automatically
Our hosting provider records standard server log information for every request: IP address, browser user-agent string, the URL requested, and a timestamp. This is used to keep the site running, to protect it from abuse, and to diagnose problems.
What we do not collect
- No cookies. This site does not set cookies of any kind.
- No analytics. We do not run Google Analytics or any equivalent, and we do not measure individual visitors.
- No advertising or social trackers. There are no ad pixels, retargeting tags, or social media trackers on this site.
- No profiles. We do not build a profile of you or attempt to identify you across sites.
4. How we use it
We use what you send through the contact form to reply to you and to carry on any conversation that follows. We use server logs to keep the site secure and available.
That is the entire list. Submitting the contact form does not add you to a marketing list. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it with anyone except the service providers described below.
5. Service providers
Three third parties are involved in running this website. Each handles data only to provide its service to us.
- Cloudflare — hosts and delivers this website and protects it from abuse. Cloudflare processes requests and server logs.
- Formspree — receives contact form submissions and delivers them to our email.
- Google Fonts — the typefaces on this site are served by Google. As a result, Google receives your IP address and basic browser information when a page loads.
6. Student data: our commitments
Current status. As of the effective date above, no Bridgewell Studio product processes real student records. Pilot work is conducted with test or synthetic data. The commitments in this section state how we will handle student data as our products enter service, and they are the terms we bring to every school conversation.
The school owns the data
Student data belongs to the school or district, not to us. We hold it on the school’s behalf and act on the school’s instructions. We do not treat student data as an asset of our business, and it is not something we would transfer, license, or monetize.
FERPA
Where we handle education records, we do so as a “school official” with a legitimate educational interest, as that term is used in FERPA at 34 CFR § 99.31(a)(1). That means we operate under the direct control of the school with respect to the use and maintenance of those records, we use them only for the purpose the school engaged us for, and we do not redisclose them except as the school directs or the law requires.
COPPA
We contract with schools, not with children or families directly. Where a product is used with students under 13, the school provides consent on behalf of parents for educational purposes, consistent with FTC guidance on school consent. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.
What we will never do
- Sell student data, under any circumstances.
- Use student data for targeted advertising, or build advertising profiles from it.
- Use student data to train machine learning or artificial intelligence models.
- Retain student data after an engagement ends, beyond what the school has agreed to.
Data minimization
Each product collects only the information that product needs in order to work. We would rather ask a school for less and be useful than collect broadly in case it turns out to matter later.
Return and deletion
On request, or at the end of an engagement, we return or delete student data as the school directs, within the timeframe set in the school’s agreement.
Security incidents
If student data is involved in a security incident, we notify the affected school without unreasonable delay, share what we know, and support the school in meeting its own notification obligations.
7. How long we keep information
- Contact form messages — kept as long as needed to handle your inquiry and any relationship that follows. You can ask us to delete yours at any time.
- Server logs — retained by our hosting provider for a limited period for security and operational purposes.
- Student data — retained only as long as the school’s agreement provides, then returned or deleted.
8. Your choices and rights
Email hello@bridgewellstudio.com to ask what information we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. We will respond as promptly as we reasonably can.
Parents and guardians: requests about a student’s education records should go through the student’s school. Under FERPA the school controls those records and we act on its instructions, and the school is in the best position to verify who is asking. We will support any school responding to such a request.
9. Security
This website is served over HTTPS. For products handling school data, we encrypt data in transit, limit access to the people who need it to do their work, and review that access. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not claim otherwise — but we treat the data in special needs classrooms as among the most sensitive a school holds, and we build accordingly.
10. Children’s privacy on this website
This website is intended for school staff, administrators, and families interested in our work. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through it. If you believe a child has sent us information through the contact form, email us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will post the updated version here and revise the effective date at the top. If a change materially affects how student data is handled, we will also raise it directly with the schools we work with rather than relying on this page alone.
12. Governing law
EXV Consulting LLC is organized under the laws of the State of New Jersey and operates from New Jersey. This policy is governed by New Jersey law, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
Nothing in this section limits any right you have under FERPA, COPPA, or any other federal or state law, and nothing here overrides the terms of a written agreement between us and a school. Where a school’s agreement and this policy conflict, the agreement controls.
